As a young child I recall what harnessed my appreciation for music. My father played piano, organ, saxophone, guitar, according and was a choral director at a local church in Miami, Florida. My other relatives played instruments such as the clarinet, trumpet, all the way to violin. Fact is my first start in music was a small bell set as a kid that I constantly played all day and night to the chagrin of my parents. From learning vocal techniques in middle school chorus to eventually conducting my own choir, music as always been a part of my life. Now realizing the importance of knowing my identity of an Israelite, I utilize my skills and talent by providing positive music in the form of hip-hop, soul, jazz and traditional gospel music for the so called Black, Hispanic, and Native american community. Eventually, I will venture into world music from North East, West and South Africa, and also island music from the Caribbean Islands including Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic and other areas that scattered Israelites live.

It is important to show your appreciate for music to your children at a young age. In the same way that we take diligence in teaching our kids in reading, writing and math, as an Israelite, emphasizing the laws of the bible and the encouragement of scriptures should be done daily.

A key way to help our kids appreciate the laws of the Creator is through music. Try creating catchy songs, lullabies, precept music clips, and other things that will build a strong group of children that know the laws of our Creator the God of Israel.

The fact is the only way you remembered the alphabet was through song! Try saying the alphabet right now with out going into song and you'll realize that music is truly integrated in how we learn and observe our society. From your favorite song as a child to what you listen to towards adulthood, your music tastes change and transition into something that is very vital to your history on this earth. It is time to have more music that is filled with the Spirit.

As it is written,

Ephesians 5:15-20

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

The best way to grow is by adhering to teaching and singing via songs, and spiritual hymns music that will enhance your commitment to the laws of God and faith in Christ.

Shalom
